Workspace View Scope: My Clients vs. Whole Firm

In a firm workspace, view scope controls whether your workspace pages show Whole firm work, My clients, or work attributed to a selection of attorneys. You set it once and it carries across the supported pages, reloads, and organization switches.

The scope selector lives in the app header on these workspace pages:

  • Dashboard
  • Clients
  • Portfolios
  • Deadlines
  • Alerts

What You Can Do

  • Switch the workspace between Whole firm and My clients
  • Filter the workspace to one or more attorneys under FILTER BY ATTORNEY
  • Include unassigned work when your organization has marks not attributed to a current member
  • See a banner whenever the workspace is narrowed below Whole firm
  • Reset back to Whole firm in one click

How It Works

  1. Open a workspace page — Go to Dashboard, Clients, Portfolios, Deadlines, or Alerts.
  2. Open the scope menu — In the app header, open the scope control (it shows your current scope, e.g. Whole firm, and is labeled Workspace view scope for accessibility). The menu opens with a VIEW SCOPE heading.
  3. Choose a top-level scopeWhole firm or My clients.
  4. Optionally narrow by attorney — Under FILTER BY ATTORNEY, select one or more attorneys.
  5. Keep working — Your scope carries across the supported workspace pages.

Scope Options

Whole firm

Select Whole firm to view all firm work in the current workspace. This is the default. Use it for a complete picture across the firm — totals, deadlines, and alerts spanning every attorney.

My clients

Select My clients to narrow the workspace to the marks you are the responsible attorney for.

This option only appears when you are one of your firm's responsible attorneys — that is, when marks in the workspace are attributed to your account. If no marks are attributed to you, the option is hidden.

Filter by attorney

Under FILTER BY ATTORNEY, you can select individual attorneys from the list. Each attorney row shows:

  • The attorney's name
  • A checkbox-style selection state
  • A count of their associated marks

You can select multiple attorneys without the menu closing between selections.

If your organization has marks that aren't attributed to any current member, an Unassigned item also appears in this section as a selectable option.

The Filter Banner

Whenever the workspace is narrowed below Whole firm — whether you chose My clients or a selection of attorneys — a banner appears in the page content area. It reads:

Viewing [your current scope]. Other firm work is hidden.

Select Show whole firm in the banner to reset the workspace back to Whole firm.

Where the Setting Applies

Workspace view scope is shared across these pages:

  • Dashboard
  • Clients
  • Portfolios
  • Deadlines
  • Alerts

Change the scope on one of these pages and the same scope applies on the others. Your choice is saved to your account for the current organization, so it persists across reloads and when you switch organizations.

When the Selector Does Not Appear

The scope control does not appear when:

  • You are in your personal workspace (personal mode)
  • No firm workspace is active
  • The feature is not enabled for your account
  • Your organization has no attorney attribution data to filter by
  • You are on a page outside the supported workspace views

Tips

  • Use Whole firm when you want firm-wide totals or activity.
  • Use My clients to limit the workspace to the marks you handle.
  • Use FILTER BY ATTORNEY to focus on a subset of the team.
  • If something seems missing, check for the banner — other firm work may be hidden by the current scope.
