ChatGPT reaches third-party MCP servers through developer mode. Turn it on once, add GleanMark as a custom connector, and the same tools become available in chat.

  1. 1On the web, open Settings and turn on developer mode. OpenAI has moved this control more than once — it has lived under Apps, under Connectors, and under Security and login. Look for "Advanced" in whichever of those your account shows.
  2. 2Add a custom connector and paste the GleanMark endpoint below.
  3. 3Leave authentication set to none unless you want portfolio access, then use an API key as a bearer token.
  4. 4On Business, Enterprise and Edu plans a workspace admin can switch developer mode off or allowlist connectors, so check with them if the option is missing.

GleanMark implements the Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP. Anything that speaks MCP can point at the same URL — there is no GleanMark-specific SDK to install.

  1. 1Register a remote MCP server in your client of choice.
  2. 2Use the GleanMark endpoint below as the server URL.
  3. 3Clients that cannot complete an OAuth flow may send a GleanMark API key as a bearer token instead.

What does not work yet

  • Vendor app directories. GleanMark is not published in the ChatGPT or Claude directories yet, so you add it by pasting the endpoint above rather than picking it from a list.
  • ChatGPT deep research. That path requires an MCP server to expose two specifically named tools, search and fetch, in a shape OpenAI defines. GleanMark publishes purpose-built trademark tools instead, so deep research will reject it. Developer mode custom connectors work.
  • ChatGPT Free. Custom connectors need a paid ChatGPT plan.
