Alert Types Explained

GleanMark organizes alerts into categories. Each type monitors a specific kind of change in the USPTO database. This reference explains what each alert means and when it fires.
Portfolio Mark Alerts
These fire for trademarks in your portfolios.
Prosecution
- Status change — the mark's registration status changed (e.g., from "Published for Opposition" to "Registered")
- Prosecution events — a new event in the prosecution history (office action issued, response filed, examiner amendment)
- ITU transition — an intent-to-use application filed a Statement of Use or amendment to allege use
Milestones
- Publication — mark published in the Official Gazette, starting the 30-day opposition window
- Registration — mark officially registered on the Principal or Supplemental Register
- Renewal — Section 8/9 renewal declaration filed
- Cancellation — registration cancelled
- Abandonment — application or registration abandoned
- International registration — Madrid Protocol designation accepted by the USPTO
- International renewal — Madrid Protocol renewal processed
Reclassifications
- Goods/services changed — amendment to the goods and services description
- Classification changed — Nice class modification
- Design search codes changed — design code assignment updated
Ownership Changes
- Assignment — ownership transferred to a new entity
- Correspondent changed — attorney or correspondent of record updated
TTAB Proceedings
- Proceeding initiated — new opposition or cancellation filed involving your mark
- Status change — proceeding status updated (suspended, resumed, decided, terminated)
- Prosecution entry — new document filed in the proceeding
Deadlines & Renewals
- 30-day deadline — a deadline is 30 days away
- 7-day deadline — a deadline is 7 days away
- Tomorrow — a deadline is tomorrow
Tracked Owner Alerts
These fire for owners you're monitoring.
- New application — owner filed a new trademark application
- Assignment — owner acquired or transferred a mark
- Info change — owner entity name or address changed
- Citation alerts — an examiner cited the owner's mark as a Section 2(d) bar
- Publication/Registration/Renewal/Cancellation/Abandonment — milestones on the owner's marks
- International registration/renewal — Madrid Protocol events
- TTAB proceeding — owner named in a new proceeding
- TTAB status change — update on an existing proceeding
Watch Search Alerts (Professional and Max plans)
Keyword-based monitoring that fires on new matches:
- New filing — a new application matches your watch query
- Publication — a matching mark published for opposition
- Registration — a matching mark registered
- Abandonment — a matching mark abandoned
- Cancellation — a matching mark cancelled
Alert Categories in Settings
In Alert Settings, alerts are grouped into toggleable categories:
